Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s fondness for folk sounds is visible in almost all his films. Shooting for ‘Tamasha’ was no different, and here is something cool the crew got a real taste of local flavors of Himachal Pradesh while working on the film.

While shooting for the final schedule of the film in Shimla, the crew got to listen to the rare and beautiful folksy tunes from Himachal Pradesh. Staying in the historic Sidhowal Lodge in the hill town, one evening the local artists from Shimla turned up impromptu and sang Himachali folk songs. For the crew, this was a super pleasant surprise! The friendly folk musicians even showed off some dance moves impromptu & helped the crew learn a few Himachali dance moves.

We know that Imtiaz Ali often incorporates folk culture and music in his films. With ‘Tamasha’, he once again has made that part of the film’s world but taken it to another level. In fact, he has highlighted Indian theatre & public performance styles, and in a style as he told us “full of sound and fury”. And we sure can’t wait to see these!

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala & Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Tamasha releases worldwide on 27th November, 2015. The film is presented by UTV Motion Pictures and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
