Filming of Desi Boyz starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone went to the floors over the weekend. The film, which marks the directorial debut of Rohit Dhawan, elder son of comedy King David Dhawan, is a romantic comedy which also has Anupam Kher and the gorgeous Chitrangada Singh in supporting roles. Contrary to earlier rumours, Anushka Sharma is not part of the project.
While this is the third film for Deepika with Akshay after Chandi Chowk to China and Housefull, it will be her first time sharing screen space with John Abraham. For the male leads, it’s a grand reunion of sorts as they come together after almost half a decade since their last comic flick Garam Masala, which saw the chemistry between John and Akshay as it main USP. Akshay tweeted, “New Year! New Movie! Jus startd shootin Desi Boyz wiv my old flirt from Garam Masala dayz Big John 😉 i must say man its been 2 long! Rohit Dhawan brace urself :)”
The film is co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Eros Entertainment and expected to release in 2011.
Akshay also tweeted, “What a prestigious day at Mehboob studios today! All the Macho Men of Bollywood gathered 4 lunch, Salman, Sanjay Saab, John & me…it was muscles galore on the set :)” Plus Eros Entertainment’s Ram Mirchandani wrote, “All the studs under one roof today ,Sanju, Salman, Akshay, John , in the Desi Boyz house.” So are we to expect some cameos? We will be sure to report when we know so stay tuned to BollySpice.com!
