Aalia Bhatt, daughter of veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has been experiencing the world of Bollywood in a different way for the last few months. She has been shooting non-stop for Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, which also stars debutants Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan in leading roles.
Karan Johar wrapped up the filming in Shimla earlier than planned, so that Varun Dhawan could join his brother Rohit in Mumbai for the release his debut film Desi Boyz. This was also a perfect opportunity for the young up-coming actress, who was described by scriptwriter Niranjan Iyengar as ‘a star waiting to happen’, to join her sister in London to spend quality time with her.
A source told BollySpice: “Aalia flew down to London join her sister Shaheen Bhatt. Shaheen has been there for a few weeks and Aalia went there to celebrate her sister’s birthday. Aalia is close to her sister and they love spending time with each other.”
“Although Karan has not been strict with her and has been pampering his cast, the shooting has been especially exhausting for her. Sidharth has been a model and he along with Varun have assisted Karan in the past. Everything has been different for Aalia but she has managed it quite well.”
So how does Karan feel about working with the newcomer? “Although Aalia has stayed away from the limelight and lead an ordinary life, she has proved herself to be very professional and coped well with the pressure. Karan is really happy with her,” adds the source.
Speaking about the film our source said: “Student of the Year is mainly being made to launch Sidharth Malhotra. Aalia and Varun have been given good roles too.”
Dharma Productions will release Student of the Year in summer next year.
