Ekta Kapoor has confirmed that American actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, who currently stars on the television show “Heroes,” has signed on to do a film for Balaji Studios. The film is to be called Shor and is going to be directed by the team of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, whose last project was the cult hit 99.

Says Ekta, “It’s a satirical, cool, smart comedy based in urban India, and Sendhil plays one of the guys in the film. There are three stories in the film and all are inter-connected.” Ekta’s brother Tusshar will also be playing one of the lead roles and Ekta wants to make sure that the feeling of friendship between the leads is authentic. She explains, “Since the film is about three friends, we are planning to organise special sessions for Sendhil and Tusshar to bond together.”

Although Sendhil has been kept busy on the sets of “Heroes” for the last few years, movie directors are now taking notice of his talent. Along with a comedic turn in Broken Lizard’s Slammin’ Salmon, which has just released, Sendhil will also soon be seen in British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha’s It’s a Wonderful Afterlife, which co-stars Shabana Azmi. That film is set to debut at the prestigious Sundance Festival, which runs from January 21 to 31 in Park City, Utah and will release world-wide in April 2010.
