As is well known by now, Yash Raj Films has quite a line up for 2007. One of these films, directed by Pradeep Sarkar and titled Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, is up for release this October. While the cast includes Jaya Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher and Kunal Kapoor, speculations have been rife about Abhishek’s place in the film. While there had been no official confirmation from Yash Raj Films, most believed Abhishek had a starring role. However, the latest news tells us otherwise.
A source told IndiaFM that “In Laaga Chunari Mein Daag Abhishek’s does an extended cameo. It’s still not decided if Abhishek will be billed a guest appearance by Yashraj Films for Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. But the film belongs to the ladies Jaya Bachchan, Rani and Konkana. The men –Anupam, Kunal Kapoor and Abhishek—are at best, supporting characters.” Abhishek is set to begin filming his scenes this June.
As for his co-star Rani Mukerji, she says she can’t wait to start shooting. Despite the fact that she wasn’t invited to Abhi’s recent wedding, Rani has no hard feelings towards Abhishek and is ready to have a great time. Now, that’s what you call professionalism!
