With the tremendous increase in International trips for our Bollywood actresses owing to shoots, award ceremonies or vacations, off-late it is becoming almost ‘custom’ary for the celebrity flyers to walk into trouble with the Indian Airport customs department for possession of high value jewellery without proper documentation. Earlier this year actresses Bipasha Basu and Minishha Lamba were stopped and interrogated for carrying undeclared items upon their return from abroad. Joining these actresses in the league of detentions made by the Customs department is Anushka Sharma who was questioned by the team at the Mumbai Airport on Monday.
Upon her arrival from the IIFA awards ceremony in Toronto, where the ‘Rab ne..’ actress won the best actress award for ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, Anushka was intercepted by the officials while passing through the green channel. Just like her fellow stars, Anushka too was carrying undeclared jewellery that was given to her by various brands to be donned at the event.
The actress was detained for couple of hours, and was subsequently let off after her statement was recorded and documents verified. The valuables have been sealed and are in possession of the Customs Department. Her publicist stated that the actress was at the customs only to sign the formal paperwork for the borrowed accessories.
