With huge expectations riding on it, Agneepath definitely had a lot at stake. And judging by the initial collections, Karan Johar’s remake definitely seems to be a huge hit.

With great reviews and amazing initial box office collections, KJo thought it was time for a little celebration. A small press meet was held yesterday for the same. Along with Karan, the stars of the movie, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor and director Karan Malhotra were present. Declaring it as a launch party for the director, KJo said that he never brought a debutant director in front of the press because he wanted their work first to speak for them – in fact he himself hadn’t given any interviews before the release of his debut movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Hrithik was ecstatic about the success of the movie, and said that the credit for his performance went to both the Karans – Johar and Malhotra! Talking about the movie, Priyanka Chopra said, “Agneepath has redefined the power of Indian box office for all of us. It’s heartening to see the strength of the Indian cinema audiences growing like this. We all were very confident of the film but for this kind of success and unprecedented number that it has posted on day one we must thank our audience.”

But the stars of the evening were definitely the baddies: Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor. Having won over the audience with their portrayal of Kancha and Rauf Lala respectively, the actors were bombarded with questions regarding their characters. When a reporter complimented Rishi on his performance he jokingly remarked,” In these 40 years you didn’t realize if I was a good actor and the moment I play a pimp, everybody is appreciating me!” When asked about his decision to shave of all his hair – including his eyebrows – he said, “But you see they were worth 25 crore!” Karan Malhotra said it was a dream debut for him as he got to work with such big stars and without any constraints.

Agneepath has managed the biggest opening so far in the history of Bollywood surpassing even that of Bodyguard. The movie released last Thursday.
