Imtiaz Ali’s new film Main Vaapas Aaunga certainly has fans intrigued and eager to see it play out on the big screen! Starring Diljig Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari in lead roles, the drama is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947.
Speaking to Subash K Jha, the director explained that Main Vaapas Aaunga is inspired by real-life stories of separation. “This tale of fiction derives almost entirely from stories of people during the Partition. The past is always present. And decades later, when all incidents of woe have been spoken of, what remains is the early feeling of love that was too personal to share. The nostalgia of who we love and where we belong lives with us forever. This personal treasure sustains us and defines the quality of our lives.”
The film also boasts music by the great AR Rahman, and this newest track is, once again, incredible. Titled ‘Vo Nahin’, the song sung by Adithya RK, Armaan Khan, and Sameer Khan features lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
Can love really be lost? Can home really be found?
Nostalgic and intimate, ‘Vo Nahin’ feels like talking to someone who is no longer there, yet somehow still everywhere.
We are not crying… You are!
Main Vaapas Aaunga releases on June 12th. Watch this space for more.
