Its not news that Harman Baweja has been putting his heart and soul in his latest project for Ashutosh Gowrikar’s What’s Your Rashee which also stars Priyanka Chopra. He’s also lending his voice for a song by uttering a couple of lines as per Ashutosh’s request. However the news part of this latest happening on the sets of What’s Your Rashee is a female voice that left Harman Baweja blown away!
It was in the recording that music director Sohail Sen played a track by a female artist and was simply astonished at the voice and what intrigued him more was that it was not a usual voice he heard in songs and was someone he couldn’t recognize. Regardless it was only natural that after being bowled over by such talent when his turn came to record Harman was extremely nervous as matching up to a voice like that was unimaginable to him.
However the secret identity of the voice that stunned him was later revealed to have belonged to Ashutosh Gowarikar’s sister Ashelsha Gowrikar, a laywer by profession. Speaking to Mid-Day Harman said, “I didn’t know Ashu belongs to a family of singers. His mother is a trained vocalist. Ashu sings and so does his sister. So I was basically asked to pitch my voice with a singer who knows her job.”
When asked to comment on his sisters singing debut Ashutosh said, “Ashlesha sang the song ‘Aa Le Chal’ for my film. I could’ve brought her vocals out earlier. But there’s a right time for everything. In What’s Your Raashee, I had the right situation for her. The song occurs when Priyanka plays Nandini, the Scorpio. I hope listeners like my sister’s voice.”
