Pretty little sister Avika Gor, also known as Anandi on TV, and undoubtedly a star of the future, has had to put up with all kinds of horror in the TV serial Balika Vadhu, including being shot by gangsters, but it’s all been worth it! Avika’s dream of starring on screen with Shahid Kapur has come true – she will be playing the role of one of his students in Paathshaala – and she gets to dance with him too! The film about the Indian education system also stars Ayesha Takia.
Director Milind Ukey shot Paathshaala in just 36 days. He insists the movie should not be compared with Taare Zameen Par which focused on the one problem of dyslexia, whereas Paathshaala looks at the education system as a whole. Determined to deal in big themes in his movies, Milind’s next movie will be based on the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761 which saw the advancing Maratha armies defeated by the Afghan invaders, led by the aggressive and extremely mobile Pashtun cavalry, bringing northern India under the temporary reign of the Afghans.
Meanwhile, the many avid fans of Balika Vadhu are desperate to know whether Anandi will survive getting shot. She’s currently still in a coma – but rumour has it, she will survive, albeit with a changed personality! “Anandi will remain in coma for a while but will survive,” says an industry source, “However, she will lose her memory thereby adding more twists to the tale. That track will be shot once Avika returns after her exams.”
