Best Debuts for 2010

We still can’t believe it’s almost the end of another year and boy, has Bollywood gone through a lot. From blockbusters to over-hyped damp squibs to sleeping hits, there’s been a fare amount of surprises in B-town. But we are not here to talk about the Salmans, Akshays or Ajays that we have seen for some time. Instead, we shed light on some of the new hopefuls that step into B-town. Whether in front or behind the camera, these new faces in no particular order that have stood out and made an impact amongst others.

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan
First up on the list of debuts is Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, director of the critically acclaimed Lahore. His name is one that many were not aware of till the National Awards winners list came out. The director packed a punch, literally, in his maiden venture that saw victory at the WorldFest Houston film festival, bagged The Indira Gandhi Award for best debut film by a director and National Award Best Supporting Actor to Farooque Sheikh and set the film festival circuit on fire on the International stage. While most await his next film in Bollywood, talks of a remake in Hollywood are on as well.
