She came, she saw and she conquered. That is probable the best way to sum up Vidya Balan right now.
Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta was a dream debut for any actress and Vidya Balan definitely scored with a smashing performance. Then came last year’s blockbuster Lage Raho Munnabhai with Sanjay Dutt, a small role in Mani Ratnam’s Guru, a role in the much talked about Salaam-e-Ishq across hottie John Abraham, and most recently, Eklavya.
However, Vidya has yet to prove one thing to audiences and die-hard fans—Vidya is yet to do a dance numbers.
Music and dance are essential to Indian cinema. Every actor, sooner or later, has to join the league of music and dance if they want to secure their status and position in Indian cinema. She’s got talent, she’s got charisma and she’s beautiful. Dancing is just one last thing that Vidya has to prove.
Lucky for her, she’s relatively new and has plenty of time to prove herself with an interesting line-up of films for 2007. Forthcoming for Vidya are Milan Luthria’s Bihaad, Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaiya, Sajid Khan’s Heyy Babyy and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol.
With such an extensive list of releases scheduled for this year, we are sure to see Vidya shaking her booty in one song or another! Whether she will be talented in the field of dancing is another story altogether. We can only wait and watch!
