5. Akshay Kumar
For those who were born or grew up in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Bollywood was full of action films and action heroes – leading that pack was Akshay Kumar. The Khiladi became known for his dare devil stunts, his high kicks and dangerous jumps. Some may be surprised to see Akshay Kumar on the list, but it is in this past decade where we have seen Mr. Kumar emerge as a powerhouse performer and a name to reckon with in the industry. Over the past ten years, viewers witnessed a transformation in Mr. Kumar, though he continued his hip tricks and stunts, he also started to become known for his slapstick masala films, his hit pairings with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif and a string of box-office blockbusters. However, no matter how confusing one may find his comedy style, the man knows how to attract huge box office draws and has many producers and directors vying to have his name associated with their films. Yes, Mr. Kumar found himself in the elite Khan league, next to Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan – without actually being a Khan of course. Akshay Kumar was certainly the master ruler this past decade and has proved that he has what it takes – so let’s hope for less comedy and more serious portrayals in the coming years.
