Since the very, very successful and to this day still loved film Wake Up Sid, starring Ranbir Kapoor opened in theaters, the question has been what will director Ayan Mukerji make next. Many rumors and stories swirled around, but then finally, the official announcement came that he will be making a second film and that Ranbir will take the lead again. Fans rejoiced!
Then the buzz began about who would star opposite Ranbir in the film. Among the actresses listed were Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone. We then heard that Katrina had given her yes, but then sadly it had to be a no because of dates.
So who will be Ranbir’s love interest? We have official confirmation that it will be Deepika Padukone! Producer Karan Johar tweeted, “So hey… Ranbir and Deepika will be in Ayan Mukerji’s next!”
He also revealed the name of the film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Explaining the title he told TOI, “The line Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is taken from the famous RD Burman song from the 70s hit Jawani Deewani. It will our second film with Ranbir and Ayan, the team that won awards and accolades for Wake Up Sid. While WUS was a coming of age film, YJHD is quintessentially a romantic one.”
Talking about the pairing he went on to say, “Deepika and Ranbir were seen together in Bachna Ae Haseeno. But according to me, their celluloid chemistry is yet to be exploited to its fullest.”
So, how will the once real life jodi show in this reel romance? Well, we will have to wait because YJDH does not go to the floors until January!
