Speculations were doing the rounds whether Darsheel Safary, whose sensitive portrayal of Ishaan Awasthi in Taare Zammen Par won him many accolades, would do another movie or not. One of the reasons is that his parents wanted to make sure their son concentrated on his studies and procured good results. However, now the rumours have finally been put to rest, Darsheel has signed Priyadarshan’s untitled flick, an adaptation to Oscar nominated Iranian film Children of Heaven.
Though it is based on the Iranian film, Priyadarshan told IANS, “I saw the Iranian film and its Singaporean version Home Run. I’m not following Majid Majidi’s screenplay from the Iranian film at all. I’m only retaining the core of the original. I’m Indianising the screenplay completely, changing and adding more characters.” The story will be quite different as it deals with the sensitive issue of militancy in Assam.
Priyadarshan is quite excited about the project because it’s for the first time he is making a Hindi film with children. Besides Darsheel, the film will also star child artiste Zia who will be making her debut playing Darsheel’s sibling.
The cast also includes Atul Kulkarni and Rituparna Sengupta. The film will go on floors staring October 10 and is expected to hit the silver screen by March 2009.
