While shooting for Yeh Jaawani hai Deewani in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh the actors survived the freezing cold weather.
The trailer of Karan Johar’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani may look like a film that’s all about fun and frolic, but the experience the cast went through while shooting in the north was quite different due to weather conditions in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, where the film was extensively shot. The actors still had a blast shooting in the cold.
In January, when the unit was shooting at high altitude in Kashmir, apparently the unit had a lot of trouble arranging food. A source says, “It was a big hassle to take food to that height, so everyone had to survive on eggs and instant noodles for a few days.”
Likewise, while in Himachal Pradesh, the weather conditions were a big problem for the entire cast. “It was very cold and to add to it, the hotel in which Ranbir and Deepika were put up, had power cuts for several hours a day. There were no heaters either that could help keep them warm,” adds the source.
However, Ayan Mukerji says the schedule was very “adventurous”.
“Our first schedule was in Manali. We were depicting a trek in the movie, so we consciously chose locations that were offbeat and in the middle of nowhere. Jalori Pass, especially, was a crazy location. It was a steep, uphill climb to reach the location, a real trek of sorts. However, our shoot ended up being even more fun because of all this. It was perhaps the best schedule of the film,” said the young director.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani opens in cinemas on 31st May 2013.
