Yahan aaneka, Khaane ka, Peene ka aur Mast chill marneka…Lekin Dum…Dum bilkul nahi marneka“. ACP Vishnu Kamath aka Abhishek Bachchan‘s dialogue from his upcoming movie Dum Maaro Dum (DMD) pretty much sums up the message which the DMD High On Life live concert wished to convey. A 3 Rock event held in collaboration with Mukhti, Lokhandwala and Provogue, the aim of this concert was pretty simple: Drugs aren’t cool. Say no to drugs.

The event took place yesterday, 16th April at Chitrakoot Grounds, Andheri, Mumbai and it was an evening filled with music, fashion, entertainment and more. Some of the top DJ’s like DJ Akhtar, DJ Rink, DJ Teenu Arora, DJ Satish and DJ Ramji played remixes created exclusively for the huge crowd gathered for the concert. A bevy of beauties including some of the top models of the country sashayed down the ramp with Provogue’s new collection. But the main attraction of the evening was definitely the male starcast (along with director Rohan Sippy) of DMD making an appearance at the concert. While Prateik Babbar and Rana Daggubati made the girls in the crowd go crazy by walking the ramp, Junior B (who made quite a chaotic entrance in a police sumo) made everyone sing and groove to his current chartbuster ‘Thayn Thayn’. Admist fun, masti and contests with the audience the main aim behind the concert was never forgotten. Abhishek stressed the point that doing drugs is not fun and should be met with a strict ‘NO’. A former drug addict (who had been taking drugs since an alarmingly young age of 10), talked about his struggle, trauma and how he overcame his addiction. Smita Thackeray’s foundation Mukti, which works closely with AIDS and Drug Abuse victims, was presented with a donation of Rs 3,52,000 – by the Lonkhandwala Infrastructure. Smita jokingly asked the youngsters to ‘Dum Maaro Dum jaroor dekhna but Dum nahi Marna’ (do watch Dum Maaro Dum but please don’t take Dum(drugs)).

All in all the concert was indeed quite eventful and the crowd seemed to enjoy it a lot. Though DMD did succeed in its unique way of promotion, let’s hope the message too sunk down with the youth.

BollySpice reiterates the statement: Get high on life, not on drugs!
