Dum Maaro Dum managed to cause a lot of controversy with its portrayal of Goa before its release on April 22nd but it seems that the film has proved to be a hit at the box office.
The film managed to bring in RS 16.5 crore last weekend and has gone on to become Abhishek Bachchan’s first major hit after Paa and Dostana. Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios confirmed the news by saying that “DMD is Abhishek Bachchan’s third biggest opening of all time after Dhoom 2 and Dostana. It seems that Abhishek Bachchan is not the only star that is attracting crowds to watch the movie but it is also Rana Daggubati’s role in the movie that is proving popular. Rana’s appearance is bringing in viewers in the South of India. T. Srikanth, GM Operations, Prasad Media Corporation Ltd, confirms this by saying that “Rana’s popularity coupled with the famous title of the movie was a crowd puller.”
