Ek Din: A Love Story With No Overt Intimacy, Gets UA13 Certificate

[socialBuzz]

The Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), in all its wisdom, has granted the Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi love story Ek Din, a UA13 certificate.

This, in principle means that the film is suitable for unrestricted public exhibition, but requires parental guidance for children under 13.

And why is Ek Din seen as unsuitable for children under 13 unless accompanied by an adult? Because there are a couple of scenes showing the consumption of alcohol. This, apparently would harm impressionable minds.

One cannot contest the censor board’s rationale. But for a film produced by Aamir Khan who has an impeccable track record as a socially responsible artiste, to be scrutinized and censored for consumption of alcohol seems beyond absurd.

Didn’t Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol get drunk in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and croon ‘Zara sa jhoom loon main’?
