After the extrememly controversial yet successful film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD), Balaji Telefilms Honcho Ekta Kapoor is ready to start her next project Ragini MMS under her production banner ALT Entertainment (division of Balaji Telefilms).
Directed by Pavan Kripalani, Ragini MMS is reported to be a mystic thriller based on a true life incident. Ekta Kapoor, who recently appeared as a guest on reality show BIG BOSS, announced the project.
The film is a story about a couple who book a house for a weekend vacation. However, the couple is unaware of the multiple hidden cameras fitted in remote areas of the house. The cameras capture private moments which the couple shares inside the house. Twist in the tale comes when the recordings divulge events & instances that normal humans will fail to understand.
The film went on floors last week. While initial reports stated that the producer-director wanted to go in for a complete fresh cast just like the previous venture, LSD, Kangana Ranaut was subsequently approached to play the leading role. However Kangana declined the offer owing to the extensive graphic and nude content expected in the movie. Ekta confirmed this, saying “That’s right I did speak to Kangana about doing Ragini MMS, but then the language in the film is very explicit”
Currently, the latest reports suggest that Vidya Balan is being approached to play the part. Yet the production house insists that fresh new faces have been cast in to maintain the film in a real and authentic space.
iRock Media, which is headed by Siddharth Jain and co-owned by Walkwater Group chairman Manmohan Shetty will be co-producing the film which is being readied for a March/April 2011 release.
