Largely known for his smooching on-screen, Mr Emraan ‘the serial-kisser’ Hashmi has taken up a new interest – Journalism! The 33 year-old took up the new interest, not because of his personal interest in the subject, but for professional reasons, as Hashmi is researching into the field in preparation for his role in the late Shamin Desai’s Rush. What dedication and professionalism, we say!

About his character Emraan explains, “I play a morally correct and honest journalist who doesn’t deviate from his philosophy, but later on falls into a trap when he accepts a lucrative offer from an upcoming news channel. He realises that the channel has not only been sensationalising and fabricating news, but also orchestrating crime for TRP.”

So has researching into Journalism changed his perspective of the field? “I have always found a journalist’s job very exciting, but now I realise that it is very, very tough, especially that of a news anchor. My character has to multi-task and also remain focused all the time. But it was a great experience sitting behind the news desk, reading from the teleprompter, handling a panel of guests, conducting interviews, interacting with the audience… phew!” he stated.

What exactly is the film about? Emraan adds, “Rush is fictional and yet relatable. There are some bizarre situations when we show the business of news getting ugly. But the film is way ahead of its time with the USP being its brilliant concept.”

About the film, Precept Pictures also stated, “We are very excited to release the film on Eid. Though our audience isn’t limited to single screens, knowing Emraan’s fan following, we hope to get good business in those centres.”

The thriller, Rush is due to release around Eid time on October the 24th, and stars Emraan Hashmi and Neha Dhupia alongside Chak De! India’s, Sagarika Ghatge.  Pritam is the film’s music director and the soundtrack will feature some songs by the likes of Bhangra artist Jazzy B, Hard Kaur and Tulsi Kumar among others.
