Get ready Toronto The Free Bollywood Monster Mash-Up Concert Returns on July 28th!

On Saturday July 28th, the return of the highly successful and free Bollywood Monster Mash-Up concert comes to Mississauga Celebration Square. This original production features over 80 singers, dancers and musicians performing favourites from the early era of Indian Cinema to the modern hits of Bollywood. But as is the trademark for the event, you’ll hear these hit songs in ways you wouldn’t expect.

“From choral spectacles to funk classics and international talent flown in direct from Bollywood, we’ve once again put together a show that has never been done before,” says music composer and producer Vikas Kohli of FatLabs.

Bollywood in Our Backyard
He has sung massive hits such as “Aao Ji Bao Ji” from the Bollywood blockbuster film Bodyguard starring Salman Khan. He rose to fame as a finalist on the reality shows “Indian Idol”, “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs” and “Fankaar”. He has performed around the world with Anu Malik, Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Kailash Kher, Himesh Reshammiya, Sonam Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Deepika Padukone and recently recorded a song with AR Rahman. Welcome rising star Rajdeep Chatterjee for his first ever performance in Canada.

With over 450 shows all over the world, including Japan, Africa, USA and at the recent Commonwealth Games, this will be the first Canadian appearance for rising star Rajdeep Chatterjee. He will be performing exclusively for Bollywood Monster Mash-Up as part of the Bollywood In Our Backyard series accompanied by a live band.

Bollywood fans will get the chance to sing on stage with Indian Idol star and Bollywood playback singer Rajdeep Chatterjee at this years Bollywood Monster Mash-Up. Aspiring singers from all walks of life are invited to post a video clip on facebook.com/BollywoodMashup of the song they would like to perform with the singer. “This is an amazing opportunity for professional and amateur singers of all ages to share the stage with an international talent,” says Vikas Kohli of FatLabs, whose company is sponsoring the search. He adds, “We will definitely take into account how people react on Facebook to the video postings before selecting the winner. It will be fun for the audience and it’s a great way to recognize talent in our own backyard.” Winners will get the chance to rehearse with Rajdeep Chatterjee during his stay in Canada and then perform with him live at the show on Saturday, July 28th at Mississauga Celebration Square.

Bollywood Monster Choir
Listening to a live band perform classics from films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Silsila, Bobby, and Pakeeza would be more fun than you can shake a samosa at. But we all know more is better, so get ready to hear classic Bollywood tunes with over 60 voices on stage. Exclusively designed for this event is the Bollywood Monster Choir with a live band featuring the Mississauga Choral Society, singers MoHit, Ferzana and special cameo from Prita Chhabra. Bollywood isn’t just passing through — we’ve made sure it’s here for good!

The Mississauga Choral Society
Led by Artistic Director, Mervin Fick, the MCS has been performing for over 35 years and is well-known for developing young artists and commissioning Canadian repertoire. This year the choir has stretched their own boundaries by learning classic Bollywood songs that have been specially arranged by Canadians Vikas Kohli & Brandon Rozen.

Ferzana Bohra
Ferzana has won numerous singing competitions such as Panorama India Idol Contest (2010), Swar Sadhana Vocal Contest (2010), and Kalanjali Talent Search (Kuwait, 2005). She has performaned with stars such as Shafqat Amanat Ali, and has been invited several times to sing for the Consulate General of India. Ferzana will be joining the Bollywood Monster Choir as one of the guest lead singers.

MoHit
As one half of Bollywood Hip-Hop duo, The Gunsmith & MoHit, MoHit is able to sing in multiple languages, including English, Hindi and Punjabi. He has performed with stars such as Kailash Kher (2012) and at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (2011) and will be joining the Bollywood Monster Choir as one of the guest lead singers.

Prita Chhabra
International recording artist Prita Chhabra will be making a special cameo performance with the Bollywood Monster Choir to sing a 100% original composition by Canadians Vikas Kohli & Vikas Khanna entitled “Dil Yeh”. The song was written for the Canadian Film Centre film “Shanti Baba Ram & The Dancers of Hope”, which has won awards at various film festi
