The Hindi version of Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups has undergone major modifications by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). While the original Kannada cut initially received clearance with only verbal modifications, the Hindi dubbed version required distinct adjustments before securing its ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate just a day ahead of its August 26 release.
The primary changes mandated for the Hindi theatrical release include audio and dialogue modifications. An offensive line in the first half and an abusive dialogue directed toward a child in the second half were entirely muted. The CBFC Examining Committee instructed the makers to replace an explicit, abusive word alongside an “obscene” dialogue in the film’s second half.
A visual sequence depicting drug abuse has been shortened and reduced in duration. The mandatory statutory health warning, which originally appeared in Tamil, has been changed to Hindi text.
Despite the minor visual reductions and muted audio tracks, the Hindi cut stands at a runtime of 3 hours, 14 minutes, and 12 seconds.
