“I am a very modern man, I go ahead, I don’t look backwards” exclaimed Dev saab very appreciatively much to the glee of his attentive audience. The statement was in response to whether his film Hum Dono, which is being re-released after 50 years, will appeal to today’s audience.

Originally released in 1961, Dev Anand is set to take his fans on a whirlwind trip back in time with Hum Dono, only this time it is being shown in colour, rather then older black and white version.

Hum Dono, digitally made in colour, is set to hit theaters on February 4th and Dev saab is actively involved in planning a grand premiere for the Bollywood biggies to attend.

At the music launch of the film at a suburban Mumbai hotel, Dev saab spoke passionately about his film, which he described as a ‘beautiful modern story, family drama, love affair, separation, absolutely modern’. He confessed to missing his leading ladies Sadhana and Nanda at the event, who couldn’t make it due to ill health.

At 87, one of India’s senior most filmmakers, what keeps him going? He replied, ‘When it comes to Dev Anand’s philosophy, Positive! If everyone thinks positively, every man will keep going ahead’. ‘All my money, all my wealth has gone into motion picture making, and I love it for the world to look at and think of a man who is small but very big inside! Look usne yeh bhi banaya, who bhi banaya aur banata chala gaya’(look he made this and he made that and kept on making (films)), chuckled Dev saab with his signature hand actions and a childlike excitement visible on his face.
