Bolly-town’s chocolate boy Imran Khan may have affirmed his “dislike” for love stories in his last release I Hate Luv Storys, yet romantic comedies seems to be his preferred genre for signing films. The actor has signed the dotted line for a project with Katrina Kaif to be produced by Yash Raj Films.
High on the success of Badmaash Company and gearing up for a confident release of Lafangey Parindey starring Neil Mukesh and Deepika Padukone, as well as the currently in production untitled film starring Anushka Sharma and newcomer Ranveer Singh, the YRF team has officially announced their next movie with Imran and Katrina in the leads. Owing to delay in shooting schedules of Dostana 2, Katrina had bulk dates which she gave to YRF. Imran also wrapped up shooting for his next Break ke Baad and hence had the same date availability. The ball has been set rolling and the film (a rom-com) is expected to go on floor by September and is being planned for a 2011 release.
The movie, which is untitled so far will be directed by first time filmmaker and YRF loyalist Ali Abbas Zafar. Ali has assisted Yash Raj in Badmaash Company, Tashan, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom to name a few.
Earlier attempts (or speculations) to cast Imran and Katrina together weren’t successful. Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi’s 7 Days in Paris was shelved as it ran into financial trouble and Emraan Hashmi replaced Imran in Dibakar Banerjee’s political thriller. Hopefully with YRF, the duo gets third time lucky. While Katrina has had previous interactions with Ali on the sets of her film New York, where Ali was an assistant director, for Imran it’s the first time with Ali and the Yash Raj Banner.
