After making such a big impact in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, her fans were expecting to see a lot more of her than they have – but Manjari Phadnis insists that this has been a deliberate act on her part and that she has turned down up to 10 scripts so far, because she is only looking for parts that have a real role and not just skin show. “I want to do a role, which would be a dream role for the future actresses to come,” she has said, “The dream role is still a dream.”
Recently she completed I Am 24, a film with the interesting Ranjat Kapoor, Neha Dhupia and Ranvir Shorey. It’s about a relationship that develops on the Internet between a 42-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman (how much more interesting it may have been if the ages were the other way around, na?). The man claims of course to be only 24 and that forms the basis of how the plot moves forward.
In addition, Manjari is currently working on a new T-Town movie, a full-on entertainer called Inkosari, with fellow Bollywood actors Richa Pallod and former Miss India, Sayali Bhagat. The star of the film is Raja and he recently explained how the film is constructed around the number seven – “The film has basically seven important shades,” he said, “The characters meet after seven years and what difficulties they face forms the crux of the film.”
