Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of popular Telugu superstar Mohan Babu, definitely seems to be making wakes in the filmi circuit. After recently debuting in Disney’s Telugu venture Anaganaga O Dheerudu as the evil Irendri, and getting rave reviews, Lakshmi seems to have caught the eye of not only Tollywood but Bollywood film-makers as well.
Rakesh Roshan, who was looking for a second female lead for his upcoming sequel to Krrish, is reported to have found the perfect choice in Lakshmi. Kangna Ranaut, who was reportedly approached to play this role backed out in order to avoid the fiasco which happened with Kites (she had complained of step-sisterly treatment during the shoot and considering Priyanka Chopra will be the main lead, she wondered if she would have enough footage in the movie). Kangna’s loss has turned out to be Lakshmi’s gain, since she has confirmed that she indeed was approached by the Roshans for their next. Although she has yet not signed the contract, sources say that it’s almost confirmed that she would be starring in the next Krrish.
However what’s surprising is that Rakesh himself has denied having ever contacted Lakshmi. According to a daily he was quoted as saying, “I haven’t met her, seen her or even heard of her. This is the first time I’m hearing this news. Who is she? By the way, Priyanka Chopra has been finalized for Krrish 3.”
Prior to her movie debut, Lakshmi has already been a part of popular television series like Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives, Mystery ER and Las Vegas.
