It has only been a week since Yash Chopra sadly passed away at the age of 80. Yet Mr. Chopra’s wife Pamela and his two sons Aditya and Uday have decided to go ahead with initial plans to stage a grand premiere in Mumbai for his last ever directorial venture Jab Tak Hai Jaan on 12 November 2012. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the leading roles and will be releasing in cinemas worldwide on 13 November to coincide with this year’s Diwali celebrations.

In a statement to a leading Indian newspaper, Pamela Chopra explained the importance of holding a premiere for the film: “I want to give my husband an unforgettable farewell. Accordingly, we have decided to have a grand premiere for his ultimate film Jab Tak Hai Jaan exactly the way he wanted it.” “This is a fitting tribute to a man who would have had it no other way. I have asked my sons Aditya and Uday to go ahead with all the preparations. This premiere is our way of celebrating his illustrious life rather than mourning it.” Surely this grand event will pay a fitting tribute to one of the most significant filmmakers to have ever surfaced from Indian cinema.

About the premiere Shah Rukh Khan said, “We are going to have this huge premiere, Insha Allah, on the 12th (of November). To me it has become a little more than a film. That is the best way of giving a tribute or the best way to mourn for Yash Chopra’s passing away and to celebrate the fact that he was a part of our lives.”

We will of course bring you all the details and pictures from the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, so watch this space!
