13feb_SubhashGhaiIt is a known fact that Subhash Ghai began his career in Hindi Cinema as an actor. After graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India, he went on to acting in six films from 1970 onwards, namely Taqdeer, Aradhna and Gumraah. After finding average success in his vocation of acting, Subhash Ghai was voluntarily drawn towards the entire aspect of filmmaking from story development to scripting to direction.

Acting on this impulse changed his life for the better. With a gush of conviction in him and the belief to deliver a film of high caliber, Subhash Ghai got Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy, then newcomers, to star in his first film Kalicharan which became an overnight hit. This 1976 movie became one of the biggest hits of its time and changed the fortunes of both, Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy. His grandeur and rich style of filmmaking, seen in every blockbuster film that followed, has earned him the nickname ‘The Showman’.
