On most Filmi fans lists of ‘I must see this on the big screen’ is Love & War. With the outstanding mix of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial vision and cast that features three of the best, Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt, this film is highly anticipated and that is an understatement. Now, we can confirm that the release date is January 21, 2027. The Bollycrowd is currently going wild.
We do know this is a romantic period drama, but not much more since all the details about Love & War are being kept very much under wraps.
Talking about the cast, Bhansali said in an earlier interview, as the shoot was in progress, “I’m working with Ranbir after 18 years and I can’t stop working with Alia because there’s still so much to tap into; The chota-packet-bada-dhamaka girl that she is. I’m also working with Vicky Kaushal for the first time. But besides being wonderful actors, they’re wonderful people. “
Earlier, Ranbir revealed during a social media live, “Love & War is every actor’s dream—to work with actors like Alia and Vicky and a master like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. To be on his set is tiring and long; the process can be a little daunting. Eventually, as an artist, it is so satisfying as he really nurtures art. I can say this with so much clarity that I haven’t met a human being who works so hard, who understands characters, emotions, music, Indian culture, Indian value system, as much as Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
While Alia during an early shoot schedule had everything good to say, “It’s a very special film. Working with Sanjay sir is one of my most treasured experiences because of the way he brings his magic to every single moment. But it’s also deeply collaborative. The energy on set is very quiet and focused. We come in, we work hard, and everyone brings something different to the table. Of course, the final magic wand is always in Sanjay sir’s hands. It is one of the most fulfilling creative experiences I’ve had on a film set.”
About working with the director, Vicky Kaushal concurred and said, “What I’m enjoying the most is it’s genuinely such a learning experience to just be around him. He’s like a child who is curious about everything, who is wanting to go deeper and explore more with the actors, the material, the camera, with the set. Everything. He’s just like, ‘Okay, what more can I do?’ In what other way can I make it more magical, more new, more cinematic.”
Bhansali added, “It’s a very important film in my life, but it’s also a difficult one for me, so I’ll take a little time to make it properly; not take myself or my great actors for granted. There’s a lot of responsibility, so we have to do it well.”
