Mukul Deora’s upcoming production Bheja Fry 2 had its music release recently on 7th June at Tryst, Mumbai. Along with this debutant producer, most of the starcast was present as well : Minissha Lamba, Vinay Pathak, Kay Kay Menon, Amole Gupte, Aditi Govitrikar, Suresh Menon and others.
Minissha Lamba, who was the star of the evening, spoke about the music of the movie, “Bheja Fry 1 was essentially a songless film. Us film main gaane nahi the par is film main hai. We have songs by Ishq Bector who has composed Ishq ka Keeda. Sneha has also given one song for this movie. So songs may not be in the film but to promote the film we have a few edgy numbers that will really keep your foot tapping. My favorite number is We Go Crazy which is going to release now and Ishq Ka Keeda which I think is a very sweet number,” she added and sang a few lines from the song We Go Crazy on audience demand.
Director, writer, actor Amole Gupte described his character, “Raghu Burman, who hates humanity and keeps shouting his head off: ‘I hate human beings!’ and why does he hate human beings? That I don’t need to explain to you. Human beings really deserve the hate the way they are going; they have no concern for humanity which is why this man is living alone.
And then in his life comes the great Bharat Bhushan , the ‘wonderful singing sensation of India’, the madman, the idiot. ” Kay Kay Menon, who is replacing Rajat Kapoor in this movie, walked in with his lovely wife. About his character in the movie, ” I play an industrialist; I have a very tasty Bheja which he fries!!” he joked. Reacting to media reports that he was upset at being sidelined in the movie promotions, Kay Kay exclaimed, ” Do I look unhappy to you?”.
Suresh Menon, who will be seen in place of Ranvir Shorey, was asked if he would be using any special voices in the film like he does on radio. “I haven’t used any of my voices over here. The voices I am saving it for radio!” He added, “I love the song O Rahi which Vinay Sirji has sung. His voice has a little bit of Mukesh in him and I really enjoyed it. In fact I had even gone on the sets to see its shooting.”
Talking about her pairing in the movie with Vinay, Minissha said, “I don’t believe in anything like an odd pair. If the film works then whatever the pair is, it is accepted and loved by people. I hope that you if you think of us as an odd pair then you would walk into a theatre with a lot of curiosity wanting to watch us.” Talking about things that made their Bheja Fry, Minissha (as she mentioned in her interview to BollySpice) said that not finding addresses made her Bheja Fry while Suresh Menon thought that each married man – and if not married then a committed man – always had his bheja fried. Vinay wittily replied, “At times media!” and when someone asked him what was the second thing that made his bheja fry he replied, “Media again!”
While all agreed that the success of the first part has indeed added to the expectations, they were sure that the sequel was good on its own to work. Here’s hoping that they taste success with this movie which is releasing this Friday.
