14sep_ZAGNY Mystic IndiaAfter performing worldwide, Mystic India: The World Tour, returned to New Jersey for a one night spectacular hosted by The Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York (ZAGNY). The Bollywood spectacular held on September 13th at the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey helped raise funds for ZAGNY which will benefit the new community and cultural center for Zoroastrians in the tri-state area.

Audience got a rare opportunity to experience various regions of India through an explosion of color and culture as Mystic India embarked on a journey through dance which culminates with a celebration of the Bollywood film industry. The dance team, part of AATMA Performing Arts consists of a diverse, impeccably trained group who combine traditional Indian and modern dance techniques bringing the streets of Mumbai and New York into perfect harmony. Renowned musicians join the 25 brilliant dancers in opulent costumes to create a global spectacle.

“It felt incredible to be back home in New Jersey after our international tour in Canada. The New Jersey audience is always gracious and bold in their acceptance of our show. The cast felt the energy of the audience on stage, and it was a truly special event for all of us. Not only did we receive such a genuine applause from the community, but the fact that we were able to help ZAGNY with building their community center was a moment I will always remember. We look forward to many more shows in the NJ/NY area and are grateful for the opportunity to present Mystic India: The World Tour to such a diverse and wonderful audience,” said Founder and Director of Mystic India, Amit Shah.

ZAGNY was formed in 1973 and has now grown to over 1,200 members in the tri-state area. ZAGNY’s goal is to preserve Zoroastrian philosophy, history, culture and rituals by conducting classes for younger members, organizing social events to celebrate days of cultural significance, providing a platform for adults to volunteer their time, efforts and resources towards worthy social causes, and frequently sponsoring important educational conferences by bringing together scholars on Zoroastrianism from around the world. Mystic India: The World Tour was held to support such efforts for the organization and they hope to continue bringing events of this scale for their community.

“ZAGNY is blown away by the success of this event and is deeply touched to still be receiving donations towards the new Zoroastrian Community and Cultural Center. We have never before put on a public event of this kind and of this magnitude for the Indian community and we are very proud of what we have achieved. It was a pleasure to work with Amit Shah and AATMA Performing Arts to bring back to New Jersey, Mystic India: The World Tour, a world class entertainment show. Many thanks to our sponsors and advertisers for their generous support,” said Astad Clubwala, President of ZAGNY.

Sponsors for the show included TV Asia, Indus American Bank, REDCOM Design and Construction LLC , Cook Maran & Associates, GeoPeak Energy, Radio Zindagi, News India Times, Desi Talk, New York Life, Metro Welding Services, Inc, Ohm International, Air India and Prime Materials Recovery.
