Padma Bhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan weaves magic with 31st October song ‘Maula’

Upcoming dramatic thriller ‘31st October’, which stars Vir Das and Soha Ali Khan, marks the comeback of legendary singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, who is known for having trained several noted playback and classical singers including Asha Bhonsle, Geeta Dutt, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Alisha Chinoy and A.R Rahman among several others.

The Padma Bhushan awardee, who has made a comeback after more than two decades, has crooned the number ‘Maula’ in the film and the song, which was unveiled today, is an auditory treat for music lovers. The song, which is a tribute to the Almighty and humanity, is quite melodious and moving and is totally worth listening to on a loop. The number has been composed by Vijay Verma and penned by Moazzam Azm.

Ustad Ghulam Khan says, “The song is dedicated to God and humanity. I was so touched by the film’s subject that I decided to sing the track. It’s my tribute to those who lost their lives in 1984.”

Writer-producer Harry Sachdeva says, “When we shared the subject of 31st October with Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, he felt the sensitivity of the subject and as a tribute to many who lost their lives in 1984, also agreed to sing a song for the film.”

Produced by writer-producer Harry Sachdeva and Magical Dreams Productions Pvt Ltd, co-produced by Anand Prakash, directed by National award winner Shivaji Lotan Patil, and released by Panorama Studios, ‘31st October’, which is slated to release on October 7,  is a glimpse into the  controversial dark chapter of India’s History.
