After the success of Wanted and now Rowdy Rathore, Prabhu Deva is here to stay! Next up is a film to be directed for Ramesh Taurani’s Tips banner which will launch his son Girish Taurani.

Ramesh Taurani has rubbished all rumours for now regarding the project and promises an announcement next week clarifying all the details. However, here is what the rumour mills have to say.

The film is said to be a remake of Prabhu Deva’s Telugu blockbuster Nuvvostanante Nenodantanna which had originally starred Siddharth (Rang De Basanti) and Trisha Krishnan (Khatta Meetha). The immensely successful film made Siddharth and Trisha recipients of Filmfare Best Actor and Actress awards. It has also seen remakes in Tamil, Bengali, Kannda and Oriya, so a Hindi remake was just a matter of time.

Whilst it is quite undisputed that Girish Taurani will be the male lead, the female lead has been a more disputed topic. Initially Southern actress Samantha (soon debuting in Ek Tha Deewana director’s Hindi/Telugu/Tamil trilingual film Ass Nabbe Poorey Sau) was said to be starring in the remake; however of late, Shruti Haasan’s name has also been attached to the film.

Haasan may not have had hit jackpot in Hindi but she is making a lot of waves down South, having done a film with A R Murgadoss (Ghajini), starred in Disney’s first ever Telugu venture, and played a lead in Dabangg Telugu remake amongst other impressive projects.

It would be interesting to see if Hindi cinema gives Shruti Haasan a second chance. Similarly it would be interesting to see if we witness a new side of Prabhu Deva with a romantic family drama after his back to back action masala entertainers. For now we’re sitting tight for the official word from Producer sahab which is to appear some time next week. Taurani promises to clarify whether the Prabhu Deva film launching his son is an original or a remake and who the leading lady will be.
