Prateik Babbar’s ten-minute role in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na seems to be working wonders for him. Recent reports in the Mumbai Mirror claim that Babbar has signed a film titled My Friend Pinto to be produced by prolific filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film will mark the debut of director Raghav Dar who has worked with Mani Ratnam on Guru and Abbas Tyrewala on JTYJN.
Though no other details are confirmed, this will likely be Prateik’s first lead role. In Kiran Rao’s Dhobhi Ghat, he shares screen space with Aamir Khan and is said to have worked extremely hard on his role.
Not many know that Babbar was initially offered Saawariya, according to his aunt Manya Patil. She tells Mumbai Mirror that the offer came along when Babbar was not interested in acting. As is well known, the role later went to Ranbir Kapoor who is currently one of the brightest new stars in tinsel town.
It will be interesting to see how Bhansali and director Raghav Dar tap into Prateik’s untapped potential. Look out for this one!
