The highly acclaimed Superboys of Malegaon will be flying into theatres on February 28th. We have a brand new trailer to get you ready to see the brilliance of the moving movie within a movie.

Directed by Reema Kagti, Superboys of Malegaon is inspired by actual events and features a highly talented ensemble cast, including Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan in the lead roles.

The Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby production, Superboys of Malegaon, is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti. The film garnered acclaim at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it had its world premiere, the 68th BFI London Film Festival, the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and the Red Sea International Film Festival.

Director Reema Kagti said, “Superboys of Malegaon is a story about filmmaking and friendship colliding to create a powerful end result. It’s about a bunch of guys who didn’t have much but created something stunning from that, against all odds.”

She added, “It is a story about the power of the underdog and the magic of cinema. The film is not just about the origins of Malegaon filmmaking; it’s about the dreams, the young filmmakers, and their town built along the way. We are excited to bring this unique story to the big screen, one that is inspired by the incredible journey of people who created magic with limited resources but endless dreams and determination.”

This emotional yet truly inspirational tale captures the essence of human relationships, camaraderie, and the transformative power of filmmaking. The film is based on the real life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from Malegaon. The town’s residents look to Bollywood for a much-needed escape, which forms the story’s base. Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands together his ragtag group of friends to bring his visions to life. But then egos clash, ideas differ, and the team fades to black. Life moves on, but then for one last film, one last hope, they come together again to make Superman of Malegaon. Brimming with comedy, adventure, and colorful friendship, Superboys of Malegaon is a moving and uplifting story of passion and the power of dreaming big, proving that creativity knows no boundaries.

Superboys of Malegaon, celebrated at TIFF and the BFI London Film Festival, is a shining example of the universal appeal of authentic Indian narratives”, said Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals, Prime Video India. “Its theatrical release across India, the US, UK, UAE, Australia, and New Zealand marks a landmark moment as Amazon MGM’s first Indian original film to debut in cinemas globally. This exciting step reflects our commitment to delivering bold, diverse, and thought-provoking stories to audiences worldwide. We’re deeply grateful to our incredible collaborators, Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, for bringing this extraordinary journey to life, and we can’t wait to share this uplifting tale on the big screen!”

Ritesh Sidhwani, producer of Excel Entertainment, shared, “Superboys of Malegaon is a celebration of dreams and resilience—universal emotions that everyone can relate to. We are excited to collaborate with Amazon MGM Studios to bring this inspiring story to theatres. We hope the film resonates deeply with the audience and touches millions of hearts. This story is a powerful reminder of the limitless potential of hope, creativity, and the human spirit.”

“As filmmakers, our goal has always been to create meaningful films that resonate not only with audiences in India but also with people around the world,” said Farhan Akhtar, producer of Excel Entertainment. “Superboys of Malegaon is a heartwarming story that demonstrates how no dream is too big if you work hard enough to make it come true. We are thrilled to have collaborated with Amazon MGM Studios to bring this incredible project to life. From its journey through international film festivals and screenings to its upcoming theatrical release, Superboys of Malegaon celebrates the power of storytelling to unite people across the world.”

Producer Zoya Akhtar shared, “I am excited to collaborate with Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios to bring this inspirational story to life— one that celebrates the human need to create art no matter what the circumstances are and the love that Superboys has received at various global screenings just reaffirms how universal that feeling is.”

Adding, “I think there are multi-layered messages in this film. The biggest one for me is the magic of the movies. But I am from the industry, so I respond to that. I respond to the artist in them the most. Movies lift you up. They take you beyond your reality. They make dreams come true. I think that’s one message that comes out. The message of friendship, their bond, and what you can do for another. The other message that comes through is that if you follow your dream if you chase what you’re after somewhere, you will make a dent. However small, it will be your dent, and it will be a dent that is there forever. You will not be missed.”

The trailer had a grand launch with the cast including Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan, producer Zoya Akhtar, director Reema Kagti and the inspiration of the film Nasir Shaikh plus many more. Check out these shots!
