Priyanka Chopra recently reached a Twitter milestone when she crossed the 100,000 mark of followers on her Twitter account. This makes her the most followed Bollywood star on the social networking website.
“I was one of the first people to start with Twitter. And I got all my friends on Twitter. I prefer it over Facebook as Twitter is more quicker,” said Priyanka.
She regularly updates her account by telling fans about her movies and moods. Her new status of “Twitter Queen” means she beats pop star, Kylie Minouge who has around 94,000 followers.
Filmmaker, Jag Mundhra says, “We live in a technology-driven age. The net is throwing up new pointers of popularity. It can be a genuine way to measure fame.”
He added that Priyanka’s popularity on Twitter shows her rising stardom in India.
Social networking sites are definitely a way of measuring popularity for celebrities. Katrina Kaif was recently voted Google Queen as she was the most searched Bollywood celebrity in 2009. Other popular celebrities searched for by Indians were Salman Khan and Michael Jackson.
Priyanka will soon be seen opposite Uday Chopra in Pyaar Impossible.
