Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001)
Starring Madhavan, Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan, this romantic drama wasn’t quite up to scratch in popularity at its time of release. However, over the years, the film has gained in fame, especially among the youth. The music of the film, it seems, left a mark in the audience’s hearts with the haunting “Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar” and the melodious “Zara Zara”.
The sweet story about a young man falling in love at first sight with a beautiful lady sees him lie to win her heart, initially not knowing her marriage has been already arranged – a love triangle with a difference, so to speak. The love, the heartache and the whole feel of the film was appreciated much after its heyday and it has been a firm favourite ever since.
In the same year, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, starring Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji, also included a lovely love story among the social issues covered in the film.
