Jab We Met(2007)
“Bachpan se mujhe shaadi karne ka bahut shauk hai,” says Kareena Kapoor’s character Geet. This line alone defines her bubbly persona in Jab We Met. In contrast, Shahid Kapoor depicts the role of a very sombre and smart-looking businessman, Aditya. The two meet on a train where their opposing personalities are laid bare and this instantly becomes the USP of the movie. The romantic moments of the film come towards the second half when Aditya’s love becomes a source of strength for Geet following heartbreak. This leads to the two swapping traits in their personalities to take on each other’s.
The film’s soundtrack was loved by all with “Mauja Hi Mauja”, “Yeh Ishq Hai” and “Tum Se Hi” being firm favourites even today. The two protagonists were a very illustrious couple off-screen and who split during the making of the film. Despite this, Jab We Met will be remembered as a cute romance that signifies that age-old myth that “opposites attract”.
2007 saw the release of Salaam-E-Ishq, six interconnected love stories knitted together in one film. Cheeni Kum took a look at love between two adults, one significantly older than the other.
