Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, co-stars in the upcoming blockbuster Eid release from Yash Raj Films’ Ek Tha Tiger, were at their tongue-in-cheek best at a recent press conference.
After unveiling the song promo for the immediately catchy song ‘Mashallah’ which features a sizzling Katrina belly-dancing in an array of gorgeous outfits, the duo along with director Kabir Khan fielded questions from the press.
Salman was all praises for Katrina.
“Katrina’s success rate and the appreciation she receives is all a result of her hard work,” he said.
“Katrina is easy to fall in love with on-screen or off-screen. That’s the reason why she is standing here and all the cameras are facing her, and that’s the reason why when she does even a single song in a movie, it becomes a big hit. The fans love her.”
When a reporter asked Katrina if she was worried about becoming stereotyped as an “item girl” because of the number of item songs she has done recently she absolutely denied it and Salman came to her defense.
“She’s not doing item songs. She’s doing favors for her friends. Karan Johar is her friend and he requested her to do ‘Chikni Chameli’ in Agneepath, so she did it. Just like we also requested her to do the song in Bodyguard and she did us a huge favor.”
With tongue firmly in cheek he joked, “She has a very big heart. Otherwise who does such things in this day and age? Everyone has become selfish.”
A press conference with Salman rarely gets by without someone posing the marriage question. This time it was triggered by a statement made earlier in the day by close friend Aamir Khan who praised Ek Tha Tiger’s trailer and quipped, “Since Salman doesn’t listen to us any longer regarding his marriage, maybe he will listen to Katrina.”
Salman good-naturedly responded, “Aamir is on my case! I will let Katrina answer that question.”
“I think that’s nobody’s decision but Salman’s, what age he should get married,” was her very direct answer.
Ek Tha Tiger is an action thriller featuring Salman Khan in the role of a spy. It is his first film with the Yash Raj banner and the first co-starring ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif since 2008’s Yuvraaj.
