Sampat Pal Devi, who heads the infamous Gulab Gang, is unhappy with the Madhuri-Juhi starrer Gulab Gang and says she wants to take legal action against the makers.
Sampat recently received a call from a French documentary group who want to make a documentary on her life, and she allowed them for the same. “The group will be staying in my house to shoot for the documentary and will also be talking to my people and other villagers to know about how Gulab gang works. The shooting will start on 29th March,” she proudly confirmed.
Documentaries on this gang have been made before as well, such as the 2010 movie Pink Saris by Kim Longinotto and Gulabi Gang in 2012 by Nishtha Jain. The film Gulab Gang with Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla is under production but Sampat says that she will not allow the film to be made since they haven’t sought permission from her.
Sampat said that she was not aware of the fact that this film was in the middle of its making. “I am not going to go and stop anyone’s shoot. When they didn’t take the responsibility of seeking my permission for a film on me, why should I waste my time? But in any case, I will not allow the film to release and I will take them to court. Madhuri ko mere bare mein kya pata hai yeh film karne ke liye? Sirf naam pata hone se koi Sampat nahi ban jaata!” (What does Madhuri know about me to do this film? One does not become Sampat Pal merely by knowing the name) the irate lady stated.
Gulab Gang has been talked about since quite some time, but Sampat Pal rose to fame with her participation in the reality show Bigg Boss 6 and had clearly said that the show is scripted post her eviction from the show. “If I am offered a show, I will certainly accept it. It is a great way to reach out to the world and tell them about the work I do. My participation in Bigg Boss 6 increased the number of calls and letters I received and a lot of women came to me for help against the problems they face. The reason behind the French documentary on me is that people in other countries have also started recognizing me and Gulab Gang and that makes me very happy,” she added.
Sampat also wants to join politics and contest the 2014 General Elections from Bundelkhand. She was asked about her idea of the safety of girls in cities, and she said that she is worried about the safety about the girls in villages more than the cities.
