Sonal Chauhan who was sensational in her debut opposite Emraan Hashmi in Jannat is heading south for her next movie – to Kannada in fact for Cheluve Ninne Nodalu. It’s a big budget affair and she will appear opposite Shivrajkumar. “Sonal is apt for our script because we found her to be the best among all the Bollywood heroines we considered for the film,” said producer NM Suresh. The movie will be shot amongst some of the great wonders of the world. “Shivrajkumar is playing a guide in this film and we’ll be shooting in the new world wonders in Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Italy, Jordan and Agra,” said the director.
Sonal, a former Miss World Tourism, appears tailor-made for this world-crossing cinematic tour. She has also been signed up for Mahesh Bhatt’s Raaz 2 next year, a follow-up to the Bipasha Basu starrer and is about to appear in a Tollywood movie, Rainbow, which released on October 2nd. But right now, she is taking a rest: “Now I have taken a break after Jannat and Rainbow. I deserve the break because I have really worked hard for these films,” she says – and she also continuing to study for her philosophy exams.
Should we consider Sonal to be the next Bindi Babe? “I want to move beyond any stardom and a sexy image,” she says, “Doing a role with minimal clothes is not all that I cherish. I want to be considered as a serious actor. I am in no hurry. I am patient enough to wait for meaningful roles.”
