Designer Sanjukta Dutta’s show at FDCI was a power packed show with veteran actress Sharmila Tagore joining her daughter Soha Ali Khan on the ramp to promote the collection inspired by a beautiful cause. Sanjukta Dutta’s new festive collection “Aakaash” is a tribute and sensitization effort towards conserving environment and handloom.

Sharmila Tagore looked ethereal in a shaded blue Mekhla Chador, the traditional Assamese drape, while Soha Ali Khan looked gorgeous in a royal blue Lehenga.

Speaking on the association actress Sharmila Tagore said, “Handloom has always be a favourite and I have been wearing it regularly. I have worn Mekhala Chador in the past too and I have always loved this drape. Today walking for this collection so beautifully designed by Sanjukta has been a pure delight, I wish her the best in helping safeguard the heritage and through her art focusing on the future too.”

Soha Ali Khan had nothing but praise for the designs and especially the Dutta’s cause for conversation of handloom work, “Associating with a fashion week and being a muse is always beautiful but what makes this even more special is how an age old drape has been so fashionably redefined by Sanjukta and she blends a cause each year as a responsible fashion brand and work towards creating more awareness. I loved what she made for me and the motif were beautiful.”

Designer Sanjukta Dutta said, “It’s a dream come true for me as I got an opportunity to work with Sharmila ji whose songs has been such big influence in my growing up years and Soha as the new generation multi talented personality is someone who defines the modern age woman for me. I am very happy to have them as my muses for the FDCI spring summer collection.”

Aakaash is a collection inspired by the infinite sky and it’s many hues of blue …Sky resembles the most beautiful canvas and to celebrate it in all its glory and encourage the world to be more sensitive towards climate change we bring to the world a collection inspired by the infinite Aakaash.

This collection is inspired by various hues of blue which are put on the Mulberry silk with traditional motives to celebrate the land which has been rich in its greenery and wildlife. The sky over our head is the biggest assurance to preserving all that nature has given us.With this thought in mind our new collection celebrates the sky and it’s shades which has a huge contribution in our existence.

Handloom is an outcome of the beautiful climate mix and to be in gratitude to the nature we dedicate our collection to it wholeheartedly. Known for working with the women weavers of Assam, Designer Sanjukta Dutta was also one of the chosen designer to showcase the craft of North-­‐east India while designing the logo of Yashraj’s film SUI DHAGA, starring Varun Dhawan & Anushka Sharma.
