All Siddharth fans rejoice! Those complaining about his rare appearances on Hindi silver screen finally have something to cheer about. Sid has just been finalized to play a vital role in Deepa Mehta’s onscreen rendition of Salman Rushdie’s most popular and Booker prize winner book “Midnight Children”. And no, this is not just another rumor. We have it from the horses’ mouth itself! Sid tweeted today, “It’s official. I’m very happy to be part of the very talented Deepa Mehta’s epic international film salman rushdie’s “Midnights Children.”

Deepa Mehta, known for her socially relevant movies like Water, Fire, and Earth, has been working on the script with Rushdie (who also has a part in the movie) and will commence the direction in January next year. “Like Tristram Shandy, ‘Midnight’s Children’ has linear narratives that go into areas which we cannot call simplistic. It’s like a Robert Altman piece that is vivid and alive. The characters come and go,” she had stated in an earlier interview. The movie, which is the story of two twins – Saleem and Shiva born at midnight of 15th August, apparently will also star Shabana Azmi, Irfan Khan, Nandita Das, Seema Biswas and Soha Ali Khan. As of now, Siddharth is definitely stated to star in this big project.

After his Rang De Basanti did the rounds at many international film festivals, a Telugu movie Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu on hand which is to be produced by Disney, and now this cross-venture – Sid definitely seems to be all set to rock the international movie market!
