A family drama that sees a son in law/mother in law on the silver screen for the first time but also manages to bring back yesteryear jodi Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. Set in Southall England Patiala House is a film that looks at the joint family system. Director Nikhil Advani explains, “Our story is universal in spirit as it is a story about all joint families who have a patriarch who makes their decisions and wants to keep everyone under one roof. Kalon family has been living for the last four generations in Southall and he has created his own fiefdom in Patiala House.”
With rumors that the title of the film was suggested by Akshay Kumar, Patiala House brings Advani and Kumar together for the second time after Chandani Chowk to China. Let’s hope this film doesn’t suffer the same fate. For their sakes as much as our own.
