Unlike most of the women today who want to prove themselves equal to men, Sonali Bendre has a different point of view. The actress who would be seen after a long time on the big screen in Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara opposite Akshay Kumar, feels she is good the way she is. “I don’t want to be equal to a man”, said Sonali in an interview to TOI. She feels it is good to enjoy the difference between the two genders. When asked about her husband Goldie Behl to whom she married in 2002,she says, “Goldie has always been around women, who are all strong and opinionated, which is lovely as he knows how to handle a woman with a mind of her own and not feel insecure about it. I would love to say that I love my son Ranveer most but even today, I love Goldie the most in the world.”
Sonali, who was last seen doing a cameo in the 2003 hit Kal Ho Na Ho, had taken a sabbatical from the movies to focus on her family and eventually appeared on the small screen as a judge in a reality show.
Her role in Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara is different from those that she has portrayed in past and thus she felt excited to be a part of the movie. “The most important reason was that it’s Shobha (Kapoor) aunty’s film. She and my mother-in-law (Madhu Behl) have been friends for 45 years now. Also, I share a great working relationship with both Milan Luthria and Akshay Kumar,” said Sonali on why she accepted the film.
Adding, “I have not charged them for anything. So it’s not a professional kind of a thing for me, it’s just a guest appearance that I am doing for the people that are involved in it. It’s a very interesting literal role.”
Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara hits theaters on August 15th
