Fateh, a slickly mounted action film promises to continue in 2025 the success streak of actioners in 2024 at the boxoffice. Sonu Sood, who is a dependable action star in many projects in Telugu and Hindi in the past—many think he was way superior to Salman Khan in their faceoff in Dabangg—feels Fateh has its own rhythm in the action scenes.

Sonu gives a remarkable spin to the action genre in Fateh. “I’ve worked really hard on making the action as unique as possible. I’ve literally poured my blood sweat and tears into making Fateh what it is. Now it is up to the audience to decide what they think about my efforts.”

Sonu Sood feels he has given his best shot to his directorial debut. “I always wanted my first film as a director to reflect my personality. Audiences like to see me in the action mode.”

Earlier, Sonu Sood played the antagonist in Telugu films. His career in villainy ended after Sonu’s widespread philanthropy during the Covid pandemic with a film starring Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi himself intervened when he had to assault Sonu in the film, arguing that Sonu’s fans won’t like it at all.

Sonu admits this transition into heroism was brought on by his fans. “It is true. I was the villain of the film. And Chiranjeevi Sir was supposed to hit me. But he refused. He told the director, ‘If I hit Sonu his fans would get upset.’. The director had to change the script. Nobody offers me negative roles any more. All the roles that are coming to me are positive hero’s roles.”

Regarding the clamour of his fans to play the hero Sonu says, “This time I must listen to my fans. Or they will get upset. I want them to know I’m done with negative roles. These roles are not coming to me and I don’t want them.”

Fateh releases January 10th.
