Twitter traffic came to a halt this week when news broke that Salman Khan had finally joined the social network, Twitter.
Salman’s brother, Arbaaz Khan apparently persuaded the actor to join the micro-blogging site which has enabled film personalities to engage directly with their fans. The two brothers are currently working together on Dabangg, which is being produced by Aarbaaz. The film has Salman and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.
As it has become the latest trend to welcome new users, Arbaaz wrote, “Hey guys ! Good news. Salman finally on twitter so pl give him a warm welcome @BeingSalmanKhan”
A few minutes later, Salman wrote, “Arbaaz ne kaha ke tweet kar toh banta hai boss” followed by, “Challo nw , who ever was being me , party over , baju hatto plz”
Salman’s number of followers rose to the hundreds and within a few hours it reached to the thousands. The actor now has over 34,500 followers in just under a week. He has been welcomed by the film fraternity already on Twitter, but Salman claims that he’s still a ‘newbie’, saying: “Use bbm , primitive man don’t kno hw to use laptop , all this is new 2 me , tweeting is a big thing fr me , vil learn tho. 4 nw itna kafihai”
Comparisons are already being made to Shah Rukh Khan who has just recently celebrated his first 100 days of being on Twitter. He currently has a following of over 270,000. Even though Salman jumped the bandwagon a bit late, will his Twitter presence surpass other Bollywood personalities already chirping with their tweets?
