Two Superstars’ Siblings Face Boxoffice Disasters On The Same Friday

Anand Deverakonda and Karthi, siblings of superstars Vijay Deverakonda and Suriya, have flopped on the same Friday with Epic First Semester and Sardaar 2.

Anand Deverakonda’s recent theatrical releases have largely struggled to replicate the success of his 2023 massive hit Baby. While the actor has shown promise with his script choices, multiple commercial failures and direct-to-OTT releases have hindered his box office track record.

Following the massive breakthrough of Vijay Deverakonda, Anand entered Telugu cinema with a much softer image. While he found critical appreciation and a hit with Baby, several of his solo outings like Dorasaani, Pushpaka Vimanam, and Gam Gam Ganesha struggled commercially, leaving him in his brother’s shadow.

Epic First Semester reunited Anand with his Baby co-star Vaishnavi Chaitanya, the film managed ₹2.10 crore on its opening day. However, it has struggled to build box office momentum due to mixed public reviews.

Star Siblings never had it easy. While Anand Deverakonda struggles to survive, another star sibling Karthi (Tamil superstar Suriya’s brother)’s Sardaar 2 has experienced a highly disappointing start at the box office. After a moderate opening of ₹4.50 crore on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the film witnessed a major 45% drop on Day 2, bringing in just ₹2.45 crore. By Day 3, its total Indian gross reached only ₹10.50 crore.

This sequel is reportedly Karthi’s costliest film to date. Given the massive budget, a multi-day total this low essentially signals a theatrical washout.
