Starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, Andaz Apna Apna(AAA), which first released in 1994, has hit the big screen once again and the Rajkumar Santoshi comedy is getting a great response. Priti Sinha, daughter of the film producer, talks about the release with Subhash K Jha.
At the very private preview of the evergreen comedy Andaz Apna Apna on Wednesday evening, a two-minute silence was observed for the victims of the Pahalgam tragedy. “It was a token gesture. But those who are saying we should have postponed our release… I want to ask them one thing: would that have helped lessen the grief of those who have lost their loved ones? When my father(the late producer Vinay Sinha) decided to make Andaz Apna Apna, he had a dream. It was his dream to provide clean and durable laughter to the audience, and my siblings and I won’t let anyone snatch it away from us,” says the co-producer Priti Sinha.
There have been multiple interviews where Raj Kumar Santoshi and others have tried to take credit away from the Sinha family.
“We won’t allow anyone to take credit for my father’s dream project. AAA was his baby through and through. And we will be announcing the sequel very soon,” announces Priti.
A chip off the old block, Priti wishes to express her gratitude to all the team members who have helped promote AAA’s re-release. “They have been very supportive. Only a few of the team members have not shown much team spirit. One actor asked us for money to promote the film. We are relatively new to all this. But we are learning.”
Priti is confident the film will do well. “AAA has amazing resale value. It is a beloved film. We have been able to get less screens than Ground Zero and some pockets have opened not so well. But we are confident Andaz Apna Apna will find its audience.”
